Welcome to the Dwight and Velna Blood Family Blog

The purpose of this blog is to provide a communication center for the extended family of Dwight and Velna Blood.  I am changing the blog from Typepad to Blogspot.  We have found that Blogspot works better for a blog with many participants from our experience with the Penrose Mornings blog.  Contributors are identified by name, which has been an annoyance with Typepad.  Also, posting is generally easier and more convenient.  More people are using and are familiar with Blogspot, including several family members who have their own blogs.  Comments are also easier to post, and contributors who are also "authors" can have their own comments posted immediately.  I would like to include both family history and current news and photos.  After all, today's news is tomorrow's family history.  So let's try this for a few weeks and see if you don't like it better.

So far, we have many who like to see what is on the family blog, but few who want to post.  We found on the Penrose blog that after people get started they get into the spirit of the thing and the blog becomes a self-sustaining  project that everyone enjoys reading and participating in.  I will post photos and events from the Volney and Pearl Black side of our family ancestors, and from the early years of the Blood children.  I will probably duplicate a few of the photos from the Russell and Minnie Blood blog just so our "family tree" will be self-contained on this blog, although you can access all of that material on the Penrose Mornings blog.  The Penrose blog has just been amazing. Once reluctant beginners got started digging up material and posting it, the momentum just kept going.  I hope that same result is what will happen on this one.

Please be patient while I get this new one organized.  I will transfer as much of the material from the other D & V blog as I can as soon as I can.  For now, I will send invites to participate in this blog to those for whom I have email addresses.  Please respond so I know you're on there.  If you need help, call.  Please provide better email addresses if necessary, as well as other email addresses for other family members.  I have great hopes to match the success of the Penrose blog, but it will take everyone's help and support.
